Teaching Pupils About Consent

Consent means giving clear permission for something to happen, and it must be freely given, informed, and respected. For children and young people, consent is about understanding what they are agreeing to and feeling safe to say yes or no. It also means that others must listen to their choices, take them seriously, and never pressure them. Teaching consent helps children build healthy boundaries, confidence, and respectful relationships.

Pupils are taught about the importance of consent in an age-appropriate way in all key stages of primary education. Consent is taught through our Health and Wellbeing curriculum. (will say PHSE for other schools).

All classrooms display the Consent poster to reinforce the importance of giving and receiving consent.
